Do you have something to say?
Are you a 9to5 member who went to the ALC with us in Washington DC? Did you receive good advice when you called the Job Survival Helpline? Have you attended any of the events for the Job Family Collaborative or the Minimum Wage Coalition? Have you interacted with your legislators recently? Did you just randomly stumble upon 9to5 on the internet and you want to tell us your story?
If you have something to say, let your voice be heard!
If you're located in metro Atlanta and are interested in writing a short blog entry for us, please leave a comment on this blog post or send an email to anni@9to5.org. I look forward to hearing from you!

New Links!
Last week, I updated the layout of this blog -- I added links to partner & ally blogs so you can get more easily involved with and learn about other players in this working women's movement. (Not sure WHERE I posted them? They're in the righthand sidebar... just scroll down past About the Blog, Tags, and Blog Archives. Yep, right.... there!)
Among them, you'll find:
Making Change: This is the 9to5 national blog! Here you'll find insight from 9to5's national director, Linda Meric, about the nationwide working women's movement. So far, she's written about Equal Pay and Paid Sick Days. Check it out! (I'll also periodically post links to Linda's posts in my own posts on the Atlanta blog.)
The H.O.T. Line: At this blog, the Georgia Rural/Urban Summit, who partners with 9to5 on the GA Minimum Wage Coalition, keeps you up to date with what's going on under the gold dome during the legislative session. They also post important action steps on legislation that's important to you. It's a great way to keep up with the Georgia Legislature!
Moms Blogging: Moms Rising, who has helped 9to5 with lobbying in the past, operates this blog, where writers discuss many issues important to working women.
National Partnership for Women & Families Blog: An important ally in the fight for paid sick days nationwide, this blog will keep you up to date on what's going on with the Healthy Families Act!

Do you know how to comment on the 9to5 blog??
I've received a lot of emails lately with questions about how to comment on the 9to5 Atlanta blog. So, here's a quick how-to...
1. At the bottom of this post, click on "0 comments" (or it may say 1 comment, 2 comments, 3 comments...). This will take you to the page where you can post a comment. If someone has commented before you, it will show up in the lefthand column. Feel free to respond to those comments, as well as the original post!
2. In the box on the right -- with the heading "Leave a comment" -- type your comments.
3. Below that is a "word verification" box. Type the series of numbers/letters you see above it to verify that you are not a spammer.
4. Scroll down to the "choose an identity" heading. If you select the circle next to "name/URL" you can type your name, so people will see who posted the comment. If you're uncomfortable identifying yourself, please feel free to click the circle next to "anonymous." No one will know who posted your comment if you post it anonymously.
5. Click "publish your comment" so everyone can read what you have to say!
PLEASE NOTE: 9to5 administrators read every comment before it can become public on the blog. After you've posted a comment, please check back in a couple of hours to see it posted to the blog. Or, if you post over the weekend, check back on Monday.

Welcome to the Atlanta 9to5 Blog!
October 15th has finally arrived! Today is Blog Action Day and also the launch of the Atlanta 9to5 blog! If you have any questions about the blog, we'll answer them here...
What will you write about on the Atlanta 9to5 blog?
We will write about issues that matter to you! Because of the upcoming election, the focus of our initial posts will be our Election Connection Campaign. Then, we'll start posting twice weekly about many other issues that are important to you, such as maternity leave, FMLA coverage, sexual harassment, and the work done by the Georgia Minimum Wage Coalition and the Georgia Job/Family Collaborative. We're always open to suggestions if you'd like us to write about something you care about!
Who writes blog entries?
For now, the Atlanta 9to5 blog will be written by staff, interns, volunteers, and board members. However, its main purpose is to foster conversation among working women. We want you, our members and activists, to use the blog as a forum for conversation by commenting on posts, sharing ideas, and making your voice heard.
How can I get involved?
It's easy! Anyone can comment on posts, either by choosing the "name/URL" option and entering a name you would like to be identified by, or by posting anonymously. If you have any technical questions about using the blogspot.com website, please don't hesitate to contact the Atlanta 9to5 office at 404-222-0037.
Don't forget to check back later this afternoon for our Blog Action Day post!
